TOWN OF WOLCOTT EXECUTIVE SESSION

 

The Council of the Town of Wolcott met Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in the Community Room of the Wolcott Town Hall for an Executive Session according to  

IC 5-14-1.5-6.1(d) to discuss the lease(s) of real property relative to the Park.  

 

Present were Council President, Michael A. Yelton; Council Vice President, Fred A. Young; Council Members Tina M. Orns; Michael J. Johnson; Stephen Schemerhorn; and Clerk-Treasurer, Tammy L. Seward.  Also present were Park Board President, Lori Bussell; former Park Board Member, Carey Jordan; Anson Wolcott Historical Society Members, Bill Jackson, Peggy Howard, Larry Klink, Jerry Lietz, Wanda Lietz and Pat Thomas.

 

Council President, Michael A. Yelton called the meeting to order.

 

Council President, Michael A. Yelton stated that the purpose of the meeting is to clarify where responsibility and liability rests with regard to the Roger G. Wolcott Memorial Park.  Following a lengthy discussion, it was determined that the property is owned by the Township; and the Roger G. Wolcott Memorial Park is leased as follows:

The Township leases the Wolcott House, Wolcott House grounds, and the tract to the west of the Wolcott House and Wolcott House grounds (also known as the Ball Park area) to the Anson Wolcott House Society.  In turn, the Anson Wolcott Historical Society subleases the tract west of the Wolcott House and Wolcott House grounds (also known as the Ball Park area) to the Wolcott Park Board.

The Township leases the tract north of Blake Street to the Town of Wolcott

It was also determined that the American Legion is responsible for the lighting of the Memorial on the Wolcott House grounds.

 

In closing, it was not determined where responsibility and liability rests with regard to the Roger G. Wolcott Memorial Park.

 

Council Vice President, Fred A. Young moved to adjourn the meeting; the motion was seconded by Council Member Michael J. Johnson; and the motion passed 4-0.
